Pharrell Williams born April 5, 1973 in West Virginia was bound for success. Born the oldest of 3 sons Pharrell's early life was spent with his parents playing Earth, Wind, & Fire in the living room, a Club across the street playing Rock & Roll, & the radio playing Rick James & Queen. He recalls "Never loosing his roots". By The 7th Grade he met the person that would later form the producing group "The Neptunes". Chad Hugo soon to be a bestfriend That Same year at Band Camp where Pharrell played the Keyboard & Drums following Hugo's talent for the saxaphone. They were also in the marching band while Williams played the drums, Chad was a conductor.
After High School, The Neptunes signed with Teddy Riley as a group. In Working through him Pharrell wrote a verse in 1992 on Wreckx-N-Effect's 1992 hit "Rump Shaker" (number two Billboard Hot 100, 2x Platinum). In 1994 Pharrell and Chad re-introduced themselves as The Neptunes. Throughout the rest of the 90's The Neptunes produced big names such as Mase, N.O.R.E, Ol' dirty Bastard, Mystical, & Kelis's entire Kaliedoscope album. In 2001, The Neptunes produced Britney Spears' single, "I'm a Slave 4 U" earning their first world-wide number one track on the Billboard Hot 100. The Neptunes also signed Clipse, a rap duo from Virginia Beach that Pharrell had met back in 1993, to Arista Records. In 2002 it finally came The Neptunes reached number one in the U.S. with Nelly's single, "Hot in Herre". In August of the same year, The Neptunes were named "Producers of the Year" at both The Source Awards and the Billboard Music Awards. Clipse released their commercial debut album, Lord Willin' on August 20, 2002. The album opened at number one on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-hop Album chart and number four on the Billboard Hot 200, fueled by the strength of its first two singles, "Grindin'" & "When the Last Time", which topped at number 34 and number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Pharrell specifically were also kept in public eye largely due to ties with Jay-Z, producing several hit singles for him and landing two tracks on his album The Black Album. The track "Frontin'".N.E.R.D's second funk/rock-oriented album, Fly or Die, released in March 2004. At the 2004 Grammy Awards Pharrell went home with two Grammy Awards that night, one for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical, and another for Best Pop Vocal Album for his work on Justin Timberlake's hit album Justified.
The Neptunes have earned three Grammy Awards amongst ten nominations. Pharrell is also the co-founder of the clothing line Billionare Boys Club & The Sponser for the "Ice Cream Skate Team". In 2006 He decided to release his own album entitled "In My Mind" which in many people's eyes failed to produce good numbers. The Album Ended up selling a little over 300,000 copies in the U.S and Europe, only taking a few spots on the billboards charts.
Most of the time Pharrell spends his days thinking outside of the box and always thinking of something new and creative. I believe that He has helped crave and change the way alot of people look at things. He also donates to various foundations and is a supporter of Peta. While making crazy beats on throwing a verse in a song traveling and meeting new oppurtunities is key. "Wealth is of the Heart and Mind, Not of the Pocket" is the quote and opening on his clothing line Billionare Boys Club. He also has done collaborations with louis vuitton & A Bathing Ape. Pharrell Is a singing, song writer, rapper, producer, desinger, & anything else that will come to his mind. He is Inovative and 1 of a kind, and at 35 years old I'm sure more to come from my favorite artist!
